I really like the CBL portion of this course, it's something that I am very passionate about and although it didn't make the content of the course more meaningful to me I enjoyed the outside learning. It would have made the course material more meaningful if my CP was more involved in outside government and things that have to do with it but since its a small youth sport's organization it is run by the volunteers that put their time in and has not much to do with state or local government, mainly its own. Some things it did help me to understand on a government level better thought, it put things into different terms that made it easier to learn and I really enjoyed that.

The governor doesn't interact with my CP at all. He or she could possibly make an impact with my CP is regulations that could either help or hurt my CP were passed but other than that there is no government interaction at all.

My CP isn't constitutionally mandated. It is run all by volunteers that raise money and find the spaces to hold the activities. There is nothing to regulate the continuation of the program in this area.

No my CP does not have the authority to raise funds through taxation. There is no ways that my CP is associated with taxing at all. The coaches are all volunteer so the money that goes into the program is directly given to the athletes by purchasing gear or offsetting travel costs and whatever else becomes needed.

My CP does rely on different donors to give money to help pay for certain things for the athletes. All athletes pay a registration fee and they pay for most gear that they receive. We do get money donated from different local businesses and/or families that might pay for all the athletes bags, or gloves for the football players and pom poms for the cheerleaders. All money that is donated it split up evenly amongst the teams and the coaches decide what to do with it. We also do a lot of fundraising to offset the costs that the athletes must pay for gear and other things that are needed so that everyone has a fair chance to participate and that money isn't the thing stopping them.

My CP uses a type of "judicial" process to resolve problems within the organization, we have a board that the Athletic Directors of cheer and football serve on as well as sue coaches and other volunteers. These are the people that approve anything and everything that goes on within the Bayside Broncos organization. Any fundraiser or activity that wants to be done must be ran through the board that meets twice a month and they must okay it. Any conflict that is brought up will go to the board and they will handle it accordingly. Nothing to my knowledge, or my AD's knowledge, has ever happened where the board has had to take "judiciary" action against someone so I don't really know how it would work, but it is ran as sort of a "government" with a President, V.P., Secretary, and Treasurer so I'm assuming it would be based the same way as maybe a school government would run.

Last season my CP had a conflict with the local surrounding residences of Carlmont High School. We couldn't use the sound system for our games on Sunday mornings. The school made some sort of agreement with the residential area that the lights and the sound system of the stadium would only be used once a week. This is an issue that my CP President is working on getting changed. Its unfair to our players that their games cannot be announced over the loudspeaker and to our cheerleaders who do not get to perform halftime or sideline routines.

My CP hasn't encouraged any legislative changes. Within or own program we hold our own board meetings twice a month to get any issues sorted out. THe cheer Athletic Director and I did have some changes made to the cheer registration process. We made the fee higher to cover the costs of certain things that need to be paid for throughout the season and we also made cheer camp mandatory for all girls this season. Camp is a great tool into teaching the cheerleaders the basics of certain skills so that when the season comes and we need to use those skills they have a feel for them. The process that we took was that we got our point on the agenda of the meeting and we proposed or argument for the changes and the board then voted on them.

My CP does not participate in political campaigns or take political stands on campaigns or candidates. My CP doesn't do this because they are a youth sports organization, there is no need to do so. Politics doesn't really play any role in the running of the program or have any need to have a role.

My Community Project is helping the Bayside Broncos Pop
Warner Cheer Program with coaching and the planning of the season. The relationship between citizens and my
project are support and help. All of the
coaches in both the football and cheerleading aspects of the program are
volunteers. There are also people who
volunteer to work he ticket booths, snack shacks, etc. These people help to support the organization
by providing these kids with a well-run organization to participate in. If there is no citizen participation then
there would be no program. If parents
didn’t sign up their children we would have no participants, if people didn’t
volunteer we would have coaches or people to run the program. Citizen
involvement is very important to keep the program running.

In 1965, President Johnson signed
the Voting Rights Act. This act aimed to
overcome legal barriers that prevented African-Americans their right the to
vote, under the 15th Amendment, at state and local levels. This act is considered to be one of the most
influential pieces of civil rights legislation in United States history. Giving African-Americans the right to vote
was part of Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream of a completely equal nation. He wanted everyone to have a say in who ran his
or her city, state, and country. I
personally don’t believe that this act is under any type of danger to be
changed and to put any minorities in danger of not being able to vote simply because
it would be unconstitutional. America
prides itself on being the “land of the free” and with any changes to this act
that statement would no longer be true.
