My CP does rely on different donors to give money to help pay for certain things for the athletes.  All athletes pay a registration fee and they pay for most gear that they receive.  We do get money donated from different local businesses and/or families that might pay for all the athletes bags, or gloves for the football players and pom poms for the cheerleaders.  All money that is donated it split up evenly amongst the teams and the coaches decide what to do with it.  We also do a lot of fundraising to offset the costs that the athletes must pay for gear and other things that are needed so that everyone has a fair chance to participate and that money isn't the thing stopping them.
